John O'Brien and Connie Lyle O'Brien work collaboratively with friends and associates from eleven countries. They write, create, problem solve, think and explore the future together - as a team, as individuals, and in other expanded teams.
They have turned what they learn from people with disabilities and their families and allies into books published by Inclusion Press and papers distributed by their collegaues at The Center on Human Policy at Syracuse University. These include:

- A Little Book on Person Centered Planning
- Celebrating the Ordinary
- Members of Each Other
- PATH
- Action for Inclusion.
John and Connie advise advocacy groups, service organizations, and governments and assist them in planning and learning from their innovations. They began working with people with disabilities three decades ago in institutions and have followed and supported people with disabilities as they take their rightful place in community life.
One of John's longest and closest collaborations in designing learning occasions and tools for change has been with Marsha Forest and Jack Pearpoint.
